†Zatracheidae Eryopoidea are a taxon of late Carboniferous and
Permian temnospondyli amphibians, known from North America and Europe. Carroll includes no less than ten families, [cite book | author = Carroll, R. L. | year = 1988 | title = Vertebrate Paleontology and Evolution | publisher = W.H. Freeman & Co.] but Yates and Warren replace this with a cladistic approach and include only two Permian families, theEryopidae andZatrachydidae . [cite journal | author = Yates, A. M. & Warren, A. A. | year = 2000 | title = The phylogeny of the 'higher' temnospondyls (Vertebrata: Choanata) and its implications for the monophyly and origins of the Stereospondyli | journal = Zool. J. Linnean Soc. | volume = 128 | pages = 77–121] They define the Eryopoidea as allEuskelia in which thechoana are relatively rounded and theiliac blade vertical. A similar definition but without the Euskelia is provided by Laurin and Steyer. [cite web | author = Laurin.
