Ifedayo Local Government Area is one of the 30 local government areas of
Osun State in southwesternNigeria . It is one of the most recent local government areas to be created. The Local Government Area is the equivalent of entities known in other countries as county, bourough, or shire.The people of Ifedayo Local Government Area consist of the
Igbomina (or Ogbonna) sub-ethnic group of the Yoruba.The current
Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Area is Otunba Ademola Adefila ofOra-Igbomina , replacing Hon. Samuel Adeyeye Jolayemi of Oke-Ila Orangun. The local government Chairman is thechief executive officer of the area and also sits in the Local Government Council which approves the budget and acts as the legislature.Hon. Jolayemi, the former Chairman, was educated in
Nigeria and theUnited States in Nursing and Hospital Administration and has an extensive work record in UShealthcare sector before returning to Nigeria to continue his career. After a long career in Healthcare Delivery and Healthcare Administration, Hon. Jolayemi became apolitician and has been active in civic and government roles within and outside Osun State culminating in hiselection into his former role as Ifedayo Local Government Chairman.The capital of Ifedayo Local Government Area is Oke-Ila Orangun. In addition to Oke-Ila Orangun, another major town in the local government area is
Ora-Igbomina (often referred to as Ora) to the northeast. The local government secretariat is located a few miles north of Oke-Ila Orangun, but other administrative buildings are located in Ora.There are several other small towns and villages in the local government area, most of which lie west of Oke-Ila Orangun.
