The Comas (folk) The Comas are an indie rock band, formed in
Chapel Hill, North Carolina by Andy Herod in March 1998. Through four albums, they have evolved into a dynamic rock band. After releasing two solid albums, "Wave to Make Friends" in 1999 and "A Def Needle in Tomorrow" in 2000, The Comas struck publicity gold after Herod's much-publicized breakup with "Dawson's Creek " actress Michelle Williams and wrote the breakup album "Conductor".Rolling Stone called "Conductor" one of the "best records you didn't hear" of 2004 andSpin Magazine featured them as a "band to watch." Since the release of "Conductor", Herod moved the band to New York City and switched fromYep Roc Records toVagrant Records .The band has constantly shifted members around Herod. The lineup currently includes Coma Nicole Gehweiler (guitars/vox), Matt Sumrow (keys/vox), Jason Caperton (bass), and Nic Gonzales (drums). The Comas' fourth album, "Spells" was released April 17, 2007.
