Reservestridsproviant

Reservestridsproviant

Reservestridsproviant (meaning "reserve battle provision" in Norwegian), normally abbreviated as RSP is a canned food made for the Norwegian Army. It is also sold in some shops, and is quite popular because it is very easy to prepare over a campfire or portable stove. A similar commercial product is sold as Snurring. Recently, the Army has started phasing out RSP in favor of the Drytech Field Meal.

Other names

RSP has been around a long time, and a number of names for it have been coined over the years.

* "Død mann på boks" or "canned dead man" is the everyday name for RSP in both civilian and military use
* "Tysker på boks" or "canned German", probably coined after the Second World War, less used today
* "Rester av Sprengt Personell" or "remains of blown-up personnel", jokingly used in the military
