Playing career
He played college football offensive tackle at Chabot College in Hayward, CA and transferred to Utah in 1978 and graduated from the Salt Lake City campus in 1982. Davis earned his master’s degree in higher education from Wisconsin in 1986. He played in the CFL for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1981 and for the Los Angeles Express of the USFL in 1983.
Coaching career
Previously, he coached theOffensive Line for the National Football League Miami Dolphins. From 2002 through 2005 he coached the OL for the University of Southern California and coached All-America offensive tackles Jacob Rogers and NFL players Winston Justice and Fred Matua. Davis was tight ends/offensive tackles coach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1997 to 2001 which is where he started coaching as a volunteer assistant in 1983 and 1986, and a graduate assistant in 1984 and 1985. He spent one year as a graduate assistant at the University of Arizona in 1987 and became fulltime offensive coordinator at Walla Walla, WA Community College. In 1989, Davis became offensive line coach at Idaho State University and then at University of Utah from 1990 to 1997football-coach-stub.
