Viscount Montagu

Viscount Montagu

The title of Viscount Montagu was created for Anthony Browne in the Peerage of England on September 2, 1554. It became extinct in 1797.

The title Viscount Montagu was chosen from line of descent from John Neville, 1st Marquess of Montagu. His daughter Lucy Neville was the mother of Anthony Browne. He was made Viscount to correlate to the wealth of the Browne family.
