Pomonok is a neighborhood in the
New York City borough ofQueens . This large housing development in south Flushing was built in 1949 on the site of a golf course. The name comes a Native American word for easternLong Island , and means either "land of tribute" or "land where there is travelling by water".Community Board

Flushing is a 30-minute plus commute on the NYCS service|7 subway to
midtown Manhattan from the Main Street terminus. TheLong Island Rail Road also runs from the Flushing Main Street station to Penn Station, a 17 minute ride. Buses Q12, Q13, Q14, Q15, Q16, Q17, Q20A, Q20B, Q25, Q27, Q34, Q44, Q48, Q65, Q66 and QB1 serve Flushing. The QM4 runs express from Pomonok to Midtown.The
