Breim is a former municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It was part of the traditional district of Nordfjord. The administrative center of Borgund was the village of Reed (sometimes called "Re").

Breim is located to the east of Gloppen, south of Stryn and the Utvik mountains, west of the Jostedalsbreen glacier, and north of Jølster. The lake, Breimsvatn, is located in the western part of Breim.

History

On 1 January 1964, the district of "Førde" with 38 inhabitants was moved to Jølster municipality while the rest of Breim, with 1,731 inhabitants, was merged into Gloppen. Breim now constitutes the eastern part of Gloppen.

chools

The area of Breim is divided into two school districts: Byrkjelo, with the Byrkjelo school and Reed with the Reed school. Both schools are primary schools.
