- Charles Eyton
-
Charles Eyton (New Zealand, June 24, 1871 - Hollywood, CA, July 2, 1941) was an actor-producer who became General Manager of Famous Players-Lasky Corporation (a Paramount Pictures subsidiary) during the silent film era.
Eyton was the brother of writer Alice Eyton. He began his career by promoting prize fighters. He also worked as a boxing referee and reportedly officiated a world championship bout. Some sources claim that in the immediate aftermath of film director William Desmond Taylor's murder, Eyton organised a group of employees to enter Taylor’s home in an attempt to remove embarrassing and incriminating items, possibly with police cooperation. Eyton also produced a number of film serials, most of which starred his wife, actress Kathlyn Williams. They divorced in 1931.
