Frederick Heath best known as Johnny Kidd, was an English
singerand songwriter, who was the front manfor the rock band, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates. He was one of the pre-Beatles British rock and rollers to achieve worldwide fame.
Kidd's most famous
songas a composer was " Shakin' All Over" which was a #1 UK hit for Johnny Kidd and the Pirates in 1960. Kidd's own version didn't chart outside of Europe, but two cover versions did: The Guess Whotopped the Canadian charts (and hit #22 US) with their 1965 version of "Shakin' All Over", and in Australia, Normie Rowetopped the charts with it later the same year.
"Shakin' All Over" was also covered by
The Whoon the classic " Live at Leeds" album. Note that The Guess Who, who had the North American hit, are entirely unrelated to The Who.
Heath was born on
23 December 1935in Willesden, North London, and died 7 October 1966, in a motor caraccident near Bury, Lancashire.
