Education and career

Hawking is an administrative staff member of the Autism Research Centre (ARC), which is situated within the School of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry, Section of Developmental Psychiatry, at the University of Cambridge. She became interested in autism when her son was diagnosed with the disorder.

Marriage and family

Her father, Stephen Hawking, a well known British physicist, has the condition amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a type of motor neuron disease. Lucy Hawking has spoken publicly of her concern for her father's welfare.
