Spangereid is a former municipality in
Vest-Agder county, Norway.Spangereid was separated from
Sør-Audnedal January 1, 1899. It became (together with Sør-Audnedal andVigmostad ) a part of the new municipalityLindesnes January 1, 1964.The area is one of
Norway 's richestarchaeological sites. The abundant remnants from theBronze Age andViking era show the Spangereid was a very important place at that time. Spangereid is strategically connected at theLindesnes peninsula, Norway's southernmost point, where the east coast meets the west coast. Today the village is a popular tourist destination for Norwegians and Europeans alike.Spangereid has an important history from the
Viking era, and plays an important role in the history ofNorway .
