The Young Women's Leadership School of Queens

The Young Women's Leadership School of Queens [TYWLS] has forged its way into many different areas in New York and other places. TYWLS-QUEENS is run by a principal, Avionne Gumbs. TYWLS-Queens is a girls-only school. The school has an Advisory, a class for individual talking and sharing feelings. In this class, students are free to speak their minds confidentially. Class-numbers are generally quite low making it easier for teachers to communicate with their students and understand their individual abilities.

- All students must wear sneakers. - Leggings or tights must be white, blue, or grey. - All students: white monogrammed TYWLS polo shirt mat be worn. - Pants/Skirt: Middle School Navy blue dress slacks or school skirt High School Grey dress slacks or school skirt

Summer Assignments

During the summer, students must complete summer projects given by teachers which relates to the next school year, and enable teachers to see whether students are committed to their school work and if they are able to complete the future terms' class work.

Future Opportunities

TYWLS is known not only for its great teaching skills, but for it's range of careers opportunities available to the students. The school ensures that all students are prepared for college.
