1998 AFL Draft (fromWest Perth Football Club ) and made his debut in round 22 1999 against Geelong atShell Stadium . He played 121 games, with a career goal tally of 147 (as of the end of the 2005 season). He has worn his guernsey number 20 since his debut.He played 21 of the 22 games in 2005 and led the club in
hard ball get s and finished third in the club forcontested mark s and overall marks. The most memorable moment in 2005 was his after-the-siren goal to snatch victory over St Kilda in round 21. He took a bigpack mark , which prompted Nine commentatorEddie McGuire to shout "Longmuir's taken a screamer!".Longmuir showed plenty of composure under pressure and is considered dangerous when at his peak.
Longmuir's career has been temporarily put on hold as he battles a degenerative knee injury but at the age of 26 he is hopeful of a return in 2008. However, he announced his retirement from AFL on 31 October 2007 due to the chronic knee injury, which seen him play just 18 games in the past 2 years.
He is the brother of former Carlton and Fremantle player Troy.
