Payangudi

Payangudi is a town in Kannur district of Kerala, India. It is known for its verdant beauty, lagoons and paddy fields. The town is surrounded by seven hills on three sides and the Arabian Sea on the other.

Malik Dinar, a scholar during the times of Muhammad arrived here to set up a mosque, making it one of the first places that Islam was introduced in India.

Most of the people of the town reside in the Gulf countries and remittances are the main form of income here. Marxism is dominant in the region. Fish and coconut are main foods consumed here.
