Eshott Airfield

Eshott Airfield is an old wartime airfield in Northumberland, 20 miles north of Newcastle, midway between Morpeth and Alnwick.

From 10 November 1942 during World War II it was home to No. 57 OTU RAF. Training on Spitfires was carried out there until the unit was transferred north to Boulmer in August 1944 [ [http://www.rafcommands.currantbun.com/Fighter/57otuF.html "No. 57 Operational Training Unit RAF", RAF Fighter Command 1939 - 1945] ] .

Eshott is now used by recreational microlights and small light aircraft.

It has both Tarmac and grass runways.

It is also known as Bockenfield Aerodrome.
