Transformational Government is an initiative of the UK government.
"Transformational Government: Enabled by Technology" was published by the e-Government Unit (eGU) of the Cabinet Office in November 2005.
It was commissioned by the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, because:"The world is changing around us at an incredible pace due to remarkable technological change. This process can either overwhelm us, or make our lives better and our country stronger. What we can't do is pretend it is not happening. Government has to respond to keep up with the hopes and aspirations of citizens and business, to remain efficient and trustworthy."
It sets out an ambitious vision for the delivery of public services in the 21st century, using the power of new technologies to change the way Government works. It can be seen as an updating of the concept of e-Government to take account of technological advances.
Work is in hand across government to deliver the strategy. Action is co-ordinated by the Chief Information Officer Council, which comes under the Cabinet Office.
