King Chilla

King Chilla A veteran reggae artist and producer specialising in instrumental reggae and Jamaican dub music.

His first studio productions were dated back in 1972 with Jamaican toaster Tapper Zukie and singer Delroy Washington. Chilla shared in the production of Delroy's song "Lonely Street" by adding innovative sax overdubs and real violins to that track leading to its release in 1973 on Count Shelly's label.

During the mid 80's to the mid 90's King Chilla played on and/or produced various sessions with U Roy, Barrington Levy, Papa San, Mutabaruka, Ernest Ranglin, Danny Virgo and many others. His debut hit record "Temple Skank" [http://www.xs4all.nl/~tapirs/1984a.htm] was released in 1984 on a white label under the pseudonym "The Raiders". He also produced several tracks on the "Worries" record label during mid 80's.

King Chilla moved to Miami in 1998 where he worked on productions with Lady Saw and Bongo Herman and many others. As a studio engineer he worked with many dancehall artists including Buju Banton, Kymani Marley, Junior Cat and many others.

In March 2007, King Chilla's record label DubVolt entered into a non-exclusive Worldwide distribution agreement with Ernie B Reggae Distribution Inc. [http://www.ebreggae.com]
