Giorgos Theofanous is a composer born in
Larnaca ,Cyprus in1968 . While young, he studied guitar, piano, and music theory at the national conservatory of Greece. He continued his studies atBerklee College of Music in Boston, U.S., majoring in arranging. He has been awarded several times as a songwriter/producer both inGreece andCyprus .In 1990, he settled in
Athens ,Greece , where he began his career in the Greek music industry. At present he is considered one of the leading composers and music producers in Greece, having sold more than one million CDs and written more than 400 songs for some of the most successful singers in Greece. He is well known among ESC (Eurovision Song Contest) fans because he composed the Cyprus entries in 1992 (Malmö ,Sweden ) and 1994 (Dublin , Ireland) and conducted the orchestra in 1993 and 1995.In 1999, Theofanous put together the first boy-band in
Greece , ONE. ONE became very popular and commercially successful inGreece andCyprus , reaching platinum sales. For the2002 Eurovision Song Contest CyBC approached Georges to write and produce theCyprus entry inTallinn ,Estonia . This was performed by ONE and included the song “Gimme.” They finished in 6th place.
