Notable_instruments =J Xaverre is a Laptop folk band from
Sunderland in the North-East ofEngland . To all practical intents and purposes a solo effort fromPete Gofton , he has occasionally been joined byLea Doherty on vocals andKing of Woolworths ' Jon Brooks on keyboards & production.History
One of many aliases for Sunderland-based multi-instrumentalist and producer
Pete Gofton . He has variously been Johnny X (as drummer inKenickie ), then Pete X (guitarist inKenickie ). This latest variation on a theme stems fromKenickie 's entry in theGuinness Book of British Hit Singles , which referred to him as the eponymous J Xaverre. Originally thought to be pronounced to rhyme with 'fair' (one Metro article came with the punning headline 'All The Fun of Xaverre'), Pete has since confirmed that it is to be pronounced 'Xavier'.Pete briefly fronted the band 'Meet Eric Roberts' along with members of Maxïmo Park and Field Music but has since adopted yet another pseudonym. His album as George Washington Brown (also used as a pseudonym by Van Dyke Parks for his first release, a cover of Donovan's Colours), titled "On The Night Plain", was released in August 2007 by Static Caravan.
Trivia
Pete made an appearance in the 2006 film "Confetti" as a member of Sponge's band.
