Gary attended
Xaverian College in theRusholme district ofManchester . Playing on both of the band's albums, Mani was in The Stone Roses until they disbanded in 1996, when he joinedPrimal Scream who he claimed were one of three bands other than the Roses that he would accept the offer from to become a member (the others are reportedlyThe Jesus and Mary Chain and fellow 'mancs'Oasis ).
