Allenby Street

Allenby Street

Allenby Street is a main traffic arterial in Tel Aviv, Israel. It was named in honor of Lord Edmund Allenby.

Allenby Street stretches from the Mediterranean sea in the north-west to Tel Aviv's HaAliya street on the south-east. It was first ppaved with concrete (in its western part) in 1914. About 22 streets cross it.

Allenby street is known for its many cafes, markets and clothes stores. It has 15 bookstores and is popular with the filmmaking industry. It is also the only place in Israel where antique 8 mm cameras are offered for sale (at the area of the corner of Ben-Yehuda Street).

At night, Allenby offers a variety of pubs, bars and restaurants.

There are many major bus lines running through it, extending to practically every other city in Gush Dan. The most recognized lines are 4 and 16, as those lines also have Sherut shared taxis that follow the buses to answer the high demand.
