Antarctic Climate and the Earth System

Antarctic Climate and the Earth System

Antarctic Climate and the Earth System (ACES) is a science programme of the British Antarctic Survey being undertaken over the period 2005-2010. It is focused on the connections between Antarctic climate and that of lower latitudes.

Goals of the program

* Study the interactions between atmosphere, sea ice, and high southern latitude ocean
* Develop models for Antarctic regional processes and relate them to global modals
* Determine the connections between Antarctica and global climate
* Learn the importance of Antarctic water masses for global ocean circulation
