Alsager inCheshire . It is situated next to alevel crossing approximately 600 yards from the town centre. The station is 10 km (6½ miles) east of Crewe on theCrewe to Derby Line .History
It was opened by the
North Staffordshire Railway companyOctober 9 1848 then became part of theLondon, Midland and Scottish Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to theLondon Midland Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948.When Sectorisation was introduced in the 1980's, the station was served by
Regional Railways until the Privatisation of British Railways.The line through Alsager was electrified in 2003 so that it could be used as a diversionary route between
Kidsgrove andCrewe during theWest Coast Main Line improvement work.As of the December 2008 timetable change, and pending completion of
West Coast Main Line upgrade work at Rugby, Alsager will be additionally served by an hourly semi-fast service between Crewe andLondon Euston , via Stoke and Stafford. This service will be provided byLondon Midland .ervice
There is a daily hourly service westbound to Crewe and eastbound to Derby. (Sundays hourly from 1400.)
