Tiruverkadu (or Thiruverkadu) (literally meaning "A forest of holy herbs and roots") is a western suburb of Chennai, Tamil nadu. However, administratively, it comes under Thiruvallur district. It is famous for its Devi temple. Nearby towns include avadi,Poonamallee, Koyambedu.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Tiruverkadu had a population of 30,734. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Tiruverkadu has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 61%. In Tiruverkadu, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
