Tiruttani is a town in Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the main tourist centre in Thiruvallur district about 85km from Chennai. Tiruttani hill temple is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga. The hill has 365 steps indicating 365 days of the year. It is 15km from Andhra Pradesh state. Tiruttani is well connected with both Railway and Bus transport facilities. Nearby Famous temples are Madhur Arulmigu Mahishasuramardhini temple, Nallatur Arulmigu Veera Anjaneya temple, Arulmigu Arumugaswami temple etc.

Legends of Tiruttani

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishna, first Vice President and Second President of India Born at Tiruttani on Sep 5, 1888. He has donated his property to Sri Subramania Swamy Devasthanam. In memory of this humble person, Dr.Radha krishnan Government Boys higher secondary school is in Tiruttani. Presently in his birth place a library and child welfare centre are maintained by Subramania Swamy Devasthanam. He has donated lot of books to this library. The Tamil freedom fighter, Dr. M. P. Sivagnanam, popularly called Ma. Po. Si., was also born in Tiruttani.

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Tiruttani had a population of 38,502. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Tiruttani has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 64%. In Tiruttani, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
