Octavia Major

Octavia Major

Octavia Maior (Maior Latin for the elder, flourished 1st century BC) was a daughter of the Roman governor and senator Gaius Octavius from his first wife, Ancharia. She also was an elder half-sister to Octavia Minor and Roman Emperor Augustus. [Sueton, "Life of Augustus" 4.1] Little is known of her. Plutarch only knows one daughter Octavia of Gaius Octavius and confuses Octavia Maior with Octavia Minor.

Octavia Maior was married to "Sextus Appuleius", who held the offices of a praetor urbanus and quaestor. Their son was also called "Sextus Appuleius" and was consul in 29 BC together with Augustus.
