*July 10 - At the All-Star Game held at the Polo Grounds in New York City, New York Giants pitcher Carl Hubbell strikes out five consecutive American League batters. These batters are Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin: all future Hall-of-Famers. The American League defeated the National league, however, 9-7.

*September 21 - In the second game of a double-header, Paul Dean pitches a no-hitter, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-0 victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers.

*October 9 - The St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Detroit Tigers, 11-0, in Game 7 of the World Series to win their third World Championship, four games to three. The St. Louis "Gashouse Gang" collected 73 hits in the series.
