party=Republican|The eldest child of John Robert and Jequita Evers, Representative Evers grew up in the farming community of Munson, Florida where he worked on the family farm along side his father and brother Eric and sister Kay.

In early 1975, his family opened a farm supply in Baker, Florida. By 1985, Evers purchased the farm supply from his parents and he continues to operate it today. In addition to the farm supply, Evers has continuously operated his own farm growing mostly peanuts, cotton and strawberries.

In mid 2001, Evers won a special election to fill the seat in the 1st District of the Florida House being vacated by Jeff Miller.

For the 2008 election year, Evers is challenged by one of the youngest people to run for the Florida House, 22 year old Ryan Gilbert.
