September 11 ,1931 ) is an Englishprelate of theRoman Catholic Church . He is theAuxiliary Bishop emeritus of theArchdiocese of Liverpool .Malone was born in
Liverpool , and was ordained to the priesthood onSeptember 18 ,1955 , inOld Swan . OnMay 13 ,1989 , he was appointedTitular Bishop of "Abora" and Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool. He received his episcopal consecration on the followingJuly 3 from Archbishop Derek Worlock, with Bishops Kevin O'Connor andJohn Rawsthorne serving as co-consecrators.The Vatican officially announced that on
October 26 ,2006 , Malone was to retire from his post in Liverpool. As with all bishops, he was required to submit his letter of retirement toPope Benedict XVI upon reaching age 75. He will continue to be aVicar General , a member of the Archbishop's council, and atrustee of the Archdiocese. Moreover, although he will no longer carry out formalparish visitations, Malone will continue to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation.
