24 November ,1888 inMacon, Georgia to John Moore Walker, Sr., and Clara Pruyn Roosevelt Walker. In 1910 he graduatedPhi Beta Kappa from theUniversity of Georgia . In 1913 he received hisBachelor of Divinity fromUniversity of the South inSewanee, Tennessee . The Right Reverend Frederick F. Reese ordained Walker as adeacon and later as apriest at Christ Church inMacon, Georgia , Walker's childhood parish.From 1914 to 1918, Walker served several southeast Georgia towns as a Missionary Priest. Finally, in 1918, he was called to be
rector of St. Paul's Church inAlbany, Georgia . He later served at St. Peter's Church,Charlotte, North Carolina and at St. Luke's Church inAtlanta, Georgia . In 1942 he was electedbishop of Atlanta.He died
