Rubberband

Rubberband was born in May 2007 (Quezon City, Philippines) when four aspiring musicians united together driven by their love and passion for music. Ryan Relayo - a high school teacher, and his college classmate and friend, Ryan Seso - an IT personnel working in Makati together with Alfred Erica - an award winning guitarist (best guitarist) in a school band competition way back 2003 and a former member of another band together with Sammer Canlas, decided to form a group in order to join a songwriting competition sponsored by one of the leading telecommunication company in the country. After a month, they began writing songs - that fits the band’s image and style - that has a unique music, lyrics and catchy melodies".

"Even before the band was formed, Ryan Relayo and Ryan Seso was already active in song writing and joining similar songwriting competitions. They made their first entry song in Puregold’s “Pagalingan Challenge,” a jingle making contest which was held nationwide. The song entitled “Sa Puregold Panalo Tayo” was chosen as the 3rd place winner taking home P50,000.00 worth of cash prize".

"The band has written songs that represents the heart and soul of all music lovers. A type of music that expresses and speaks anything under the sun in which any listener could surely connect with, appreciate, and be fond of. All especially because of the unique and creative musicality of the arrangement of music and lyrics that is hard to find nowadays".

"The first song they wrote was entitled “Sulong Kabataan” followed by “Lahat ay Posible” and “Ligaya.” “Ligaya.” was used as their entry song in MYX and Pringles’ songwriting competition – PRINGLESUPOP (2008). The song “Ligaya" was chosen as one of the five finalists and awarded 2nd Runner-up in the grand finals. The band performed live in April 22, 2008 at the Trinoma Activity Center taking home P75,000.00 worth of cash prize".

"The other songs which the band has fruitfully written and recorded in a home recording studio which is owned and managed by Ryan Relayo were “Ikaw Lamang,” “Pangamba,” “Attractive,” “Pare,” “Panaginip,” “Love will find a way”, and “How can I ask for more”. The last song was used in Diliman Preparatory School in the graduation rites of batch 2006 and 2007 because of its heartwarming words and melody".

"The name “Rubberband” was chosen to depict the band’s character and flexibility in making music – that is to write good quality songs with distinct and catchy melody which incorporates different music genre such as jazz, pop, rock, reggae, acoustic, etc".

"Each song composed by the group has its own sound and identity that makes it very appealing and unique apart from other songs – a style and vision that clearly defines “Rubberband”".
