The cap is 5-15 cm wide and grainy, often with cracks. Cap colour is green/olive. The gills are close apart, white. Stipe 3-8 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, cylindrical or barrel-shaped.
Distribution and habitat
"Russula virescens" can be found growing in deciduous forests.
