Judge Arthur J. Gajarsa (born
1941 ) is a Circuit Judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (1997 -present).Arthur Gajarsa was born on
1 March 1941 inNorcia ,Italy . He matriculated at theRensselaer Polytechnic Institute , where he was admitted to theZeta Psi fraternity, graduating in1962 with a B.S. inElectrical Engineering . He then received a M.A. inEconomics fromThe Catholic University of America in1964 , and a J.D. fromGeorgetown University in1967 .Gajarsa began his career as a
patent examiner with theU.S. Patent and Trademark Office , served as alaw clerk for JudgeJoseph McGarraghy on theUnited States District Court for the District of Columbia and worked as an attorney in the Department of Defense specializing in defense systems analysis andintellectual property rights. He also served as Special Counsel and Assistant to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs at theDepartment of the Interior from1969 to1971 . He was nominated for appointment to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in18 April 1997 by PresidentBill Clinton , was confirmed by the Senate on13 July and entered service on12 September .He has authored Recent Developments in Antitrust for the
American Bar Association in1967 -69, and TheEuropean Common Market Antitrust Laws, Catholic University, 1967. He has also published numerous articles on economics and law.Awards and honors
