Idelphonse Hategekimana is a
Rwanda n soldier who is alleged to have participated in theRwandan Genocide .An ethnic
Hutu , Hategekimana was born in Mugina commune inGitarama prefecture. In 1994, he held the rank oflieutenant in theRwandan Armed Forces , and was the commander of the Ngoma camp in Butare prefecture.On
November 27 2000 , theInternational Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) issued anindictment against Hategekimana, charging him with "genocide , or in the alternative complicity in genocide, direct and public incitement to commit genocide, andcrimes against humanity ." ref|ictr-indictment.He was arrested in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo onFebruary 16 2003 , and transferred to the ICTR on February 19. He made his first appearance before the court on February 28.References
