Adam Nimoy

Adam Nimoy

Adam B. Nimoy (born August 9, 1956 in Los Angeles, California) is the son of actor Leonard Nimoy and his first wife, actress Sandra Zober. He has a sister, Julie. Adam Nimoy is a former entertainment attorney and is a director of television programs including episodes of "NYPD Blue, The Practice," "", "Babylon 5", and "Gilmore Girls".

He also teaches writing, directing and acting at the NYFA in Los Angeles. He is the author of a memoir entitled "My Incredibly Wonderful, Miserable Life" published by Pocket Books

Adam Nimoy's personal bio taken from the book "My Incredibly Wonderful Miserable Life":Adam Nimoy was born in Los Angeles, California, to Leonard and Sandra Zober Nimoy. He attended University Elementary School, a lab school run by the Graduate School of Education at UCLA where he was the subject of numerous psychological experiments. Experimentation continued at UC Berkeley in the form of mind-altering substances. In a state of mental confusion, Nimoy attended Loyola Law School where he learned that he would never get rich practicing law. In a brief moment of clarity, Nimoy left the law to study filmmaking at UCLA Extension and acting with Jeff Corey. After directing over forty-five hours of television, including episodes of NYPD Blue, The Practice and Gilmore Girls, Nimoy's television career abruptly ended due to drug and alcohol addiction and other personality defects. "They never complain about the work, just the attitude." -Richard Weitz, agent, Endeavor.

On January 1, 2004 Nimoy entered a 12-Step program hoping to achieve a major attitude adjustment. In 2003, he joined forces with Jack Grapes and his band of literary hooligans a/k/a The Los Angeles Poets & Writers Collective and soon became a devotee of "Method Writing." Nonfiction works written by Nimoy have been presented by him at readings held in various venues including: Beyond Baroque, Venice, CA; The Hotel Café, Hollywood, CA; The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, UCLA; Schoenberg Hall and Royce Hall, UCLA; M Bar, Hollywood, CA, and the Northwest corner of Pico and Sepulveda during rush hour. In 2004, Nimoy became a substitute teacher for the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District where he became intimately familiar with the ritualistic term "Sink the Sub." He now teaches acting and directing at The New York Film Academy located at Universal Studios.

Nimoy lives in Santa Monica, California where he is spotted around town whenever possible with daughter Maddy, eighteen, and son Jonah, sixteen.
