Loremo AG is a German automaker corporation, based in Munich. It was founded in 2000.citeweb|title=Light, Sexy And Fun To Drive|url=http://www.businessweek.com/autos/content/apr2006/bw20060404_870400.htm?chan=autos_autos+index+page_auto+shows|publisher="Businessweek"|accessdate=2008-09-14] Loremo is focused on designing and manufacturing cars with very low weight and air resistance, the term "Loremo" is an abbreviation for "Low Resistance Mobile". [cite news| first=William| last=Boston| url=http://www.time.com/time/europe/magazine/article/0,13005,901060717-1211547-1,00.html| title=Driving On The Light Side| publisher="Time (magazine)"| accessdate=2006-09-02] Initially the car was conceived for emerging markets such as China and India. However, due to the worldwide attention on global warming, the company also plans to sell the Loremo across the European Union.

Turbo-diesel vehicles

At the 2006 Geneva Auto Show the company has demonstrated its concept car which the company says will become a 157 MPG (1.5 l/100 km) turbodiesel car. [cite news| first=Brandon| last=Hill| url=http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=1000| title=157 MPG Vehicle for only $13,000| publisher="DailyTech'| accessdate=2006-04-28] Two different Loremo models are currently waiting in the pipeline to be produced: the Loremo LS base model, and the sportier Loremo GT. The Loremo GT will is based on a three cylinder turbo diesel engine and with this configuration the vehicle still manages to achieve 87 miles per gallon. Both models will be equipped with a manual transmission and be mid-engined in a 2+2 configuration.

According to the company, the Loremo LS base model will produce only 50 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer, which would be better than any other car on the market in terms of environmental sustainability. By comparison, the next most energy efficient model is the Smart by German automaker Daimler AG which produces 88 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.

The presentation of the Loremo during the Geneva Auto show in 2006 focused on the car's body, as it still lacked an engine. In September 2007 the company successfully accomplished the car's proof of concept in Frankfurt am Main, as part of the annual International Motor Show. In preparation of presenting the first driving prototype, the Loremo L1 was equipped with a turbodiesel motor. However, in light of diminishing fossil fuels, an electric motor is expected to be available in the lineup in addition to the currently planned models.

There are no conventional doors on the Loremo automobile. Getting in and out of the car is done by means of a "gate", wherein the front portion of the car lifts up and away. The section is hinged at the front of the car where a radiator would normally sit. This method of entry is different, but Loremo AG says that it is convenient. Mass production is planned for 2010 in a yet-to-be-constructed car factory. This factory will probably be located in the city of Dorsten in the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. All-electric and PHEV vehicles

The next step in development is an electric-powered car. The electric vehicle will possibly be launched by 2010.citeweb|title=Loremo LS goes electric by 2010|url=http://autoreview.belproject.com/item/480|publisher="belproject.com"|accessdate=2008-09-12]

There will also be a plug-in hybrid version of the Loremo LS powered by a diesel engine with an electric-only range of six to twelve miles. It has a range of mile|93.2 on a charge or mile|599.7 on diesel.
