Stuart Challender

Stuart David Challender (19 February, 1947 - 13 December, 1991) was an Australian conductor.

Challender succeeded Zdeněk Mácal as chief conductor of the Sydney Symphony from 1987 to 1991. In Australia's bi-centennial year (1988), he led the orchestra in a successful tour of the United States. He died of an AIDS-related disease on 13 December 1991.
