The Nowodworski Foundation Charity for Cultural and Educational Exchange, Inc. is a non-profit 501-c-3 educational organization, established and incorporated under the laws of the State of New York in 1999. Foundation has its Chapters in: New York City, Putnam County, Westchester County, and Connecticut.
The purpose of the Nowodworski Foundation is innovation in art and music education as well as promotion of cross-cultural understanding. The Foundation realizes its aims through the SITE Arts Program (Social Improvement Through Expression), which focuses on the development of children’s minds through the Arts.
The SITE Arts Program works by nurturing and developing natural artistic talents in children of all ages, improving multiple intelligencies through music and art, providing creative outlets for new ideas, boosting self esteem and improving social interactions in group settings. SITE helps children to find alternatives to other recreation mediums such as computer games or other subcultures.
In addition to the Art and Music Classes, Inventive Thinking and Craft workshops during the school year, an International Art Camp is held during the summer in Poland. This foundation bridges two cultures: American and Polish, but is united in the pursuit of excellence.
SITE Program has several locations in: Hawthorne, Mahopac, New York City, Port Chester, Stamford, and Yonkers. A new SITE in Somers is now in development.
Nowodworski Foundation also puts a great deal of effort and resources into helping underrepresented children of immigrants, minorities, low-income families, and children with disabilities. Working closely with families and business communities where SITE is located, the foundation expands audiences involved in arts and music.
The Nowodworski Foundation is supported by grants from the Westchester and Putnam Art Councils, Putnam Arts Fund, Westchester Parks, as well as donations from businesses and individuals.
Since 2005 a sister foundation "Fundacja Kampus Nowodworski" operates in Poland and helps in organizing international student exchanges.
A bit of History:
The Novodworski Foundation was created by the Alumni of the Nowodworski High School living in the United States.
Throughout the school's history it was supported and helped by many of its alumni. Today the tradition continues with such groups as The Nowodworski Foundation that began student exchanges between various American high schools and the Nowodworski High School. The foundation is also working to renovate and expand the over 400 year old school's crumbling facilities and integrate it with the city's cultural circle.
