Lucy is married to Bruno Milligan. On the face of it, Lucy makes the perfect footballers’ wife – she’s intelligent, ambitious, bubbly and outgoing. But appearances can quite often be deceptive and Lucy’s happy-go-lucky exterior can sometimes be a veneer. Lucy has a tempestuous relationship with her husband Bruno. As far as Bruno is concerned, his wife can’t do anything right and Lucy, as a devoted wife and mother, puts up with an awful lot in exchange for the stable and secure future that his vast salary as a footballer has assured.

Amongst the many things that Lucy has given up are her dreams of recognition as a fashion designer. Although she often wears her own creations, Bruno doesn’t approve of his wife’s individual and eclectic taste and is never slow to tell her so. Over the years, he has constantly ground away at her self-esteem and, although she has fiery bursts of determination in which she resolves to leave him, he always manages to talk or threaten her into staying. He even burned her clothes after she bought new ones without his approval.

Finally Lucy had enough and planned her and her daughter's escape. She meerts Doctor Giles Arrowsmith over the internet who seems like the man of her dreams. One day Bruno gives her a necklace as a sign of affection and Lucy starts to think things about to change. She goes out to lunch with Amber and after lunch is over they hug. The necklace falls to the ground and Lucy picks it up. She is shocked to discover that Bruno has placed a tracking device in the necklace. She's furious and confronts Bruno about it. Bruno gets upset and they get into a big fight. Lucy tells Bruno she's leaving him. She packs her and her daughter,Angelica's bags and walks downstairs to get Angelica so they can leave. But she finds Bruno holding Angelica and watching a video with her.Angelica asks her where she is going and Bruno replies,"Mummy isn't going anywhere! She wouldn't leave without you would she?" Lucy is crushed that her plan has been ruined. The next day the Milligans host a shooting party at their house and Lucy sees this as the perfect time to escape. In the middle of the party she tells Bruno she feels ill and wants to go home and lay down. Bruno has suspicions at first but allows her to go. Lucy leaves her daughter in the care of Amber Gates. Amber is on the plan and when the party returns to the Milligans' house she asks Bruno if it's alright if he and Lucy's daughter can show Amber her horses. Bruno agrees. Meanwhile Lucy had packed all of her and Angelica's clothes and built a rope out of sheets which she uses to climb down because she can't escape from the front door without Bruno or someone else seeing her. Amber brings her daughter around to the back to meet her. Lucy grabs her daughter and they run off and Amber returns to the house. Bruno asks her where his daughter is and Amber tells him she's picking flowers for her mother. Bruno senses something is wrong and rushes upstairs. He goes into his daughter's room and finds that all her clothes are gone. Meanwhile Lucy and her Angelica go to a bathroom to change clothes. Lucy notices a watch on Angelica's wrist and asks where it came from. She tells her that her dad gave it to her. Lucy takes the watch off and stomps on it. She finds that Bruno has placed a tracking device in her Angelica's watch too. Bruno meanwhile gets on his computer to try and track his wife and daughter but can't because Lucy broke the device.

Having nowhere to go, Lucy goes to Arrowsmith's house. He is charming and sweet and tells her he will take care of her. The first night goes great but the next morning Lucy finds him putting bars on the windows. He tells her it's for her and her daughter's safety from Bruno. Lucy finds a pic of a woman and asks who it is and he tells her it was his fiancee Magda before the car accident which she was killed in. But soon he starts to act weird and starts calling her Magda. He shows up with a wedding dress and tells her it's hers and to put it on. Lucy gets scared. She tries to escape but can't because of the bars on the windows. Giles had also cut all the phone lines and locked all the doors. Arrowsmith injects her with drugs. Then with a woozy Lucy in her wedding dress and Angelica in a dress they get married in front of a homemade wedding tape. Arrowsmith then drags Lucy and her daughter to the car. He asks as if she's Magda and asks her if she remembers the car. He tells her it's an exact car she got into an accident in and he had it restored. His plan is to redo the accident so he can die too but Lucy tells him there has to be another way. He says there is. But his other plan includes locking Lucy, Angelica and himself in the car and turning it on so the carbon monoxide can build up so they can inhale it and die.

Extra Time - Season 1

After being in the car for a while, Giles wakes up and comes to his senses. He decides to release Lucy and Angelica before it's too late. Lucy and Angelica catch a cab back to their house. Lucy is guilt-ridden for running off with Giles and becomes more determined than ever to make their marriage work. She's also guilt ridden because in his quest to find her and Angelica, Bruno showed up at what he thought was Giles' house with Conrad Gates. Conrad realizes they were given the wrong address and rushes to tell Bruno. Bruno mistakes Conrad for Giles and shoots him killing him instantly. In order to make him take her back, Lucy agrees to tell the police that she was with Bruno all day so the police don't find out that he killed Conrad.

eason 5

Lucy's in for a shock at their 'Pride and Prejudice' themed renewal of vows. Bruno was actually still married to his first wife Joly Salter, with whom he had two older children! He is scared that Lucy will find out the truth. One day Lucy picked up Bruno's phone and sees a message from Joly telling Bruno to meet her at the hotel. Lucy suspects that Bruno is meeting Joly for one last fling before the ceremony but it isn't the case at all. Joly was there to get Bruno to sign some papers pertaining to their divorce settlement-a swanky apartment in Kensington. On the day of the ceremony, Lucy waits for Bruno to leave so she can confront Joly. She is stunned when she learns that Bruno and Joly aren't having an affair, they've been getting a divorce. Lucy arrives at the ceremony but instead of walking down the aisle with her father she stomps angrily towards him. She slaps Bruno and announces to the guest that her 'so-called huband' is a bigamist!

After the incident, Amber wanting to get to the bottom of her husband Conrad's death, puts the move on Bruno even though Lucy is her friend. Lucy is disgusted and she and Angelica move in with Harley Lawson's ex-wife Shannon Donnelly-Lawson. Lucy soon begins to get attention for her designs. But she soon realizes what Amber is up to and arranges to meet with her. Bruno and Lucy are horrified to learn that Amber knows that Bruno killed Conrad. Lucy also discovers that Amber is trying to get Bruno to kill himself and phones him before he could and tells him Angelica is sick but she really isn't.

Later in the season, Lucy and Bruno reunited when they were drunk, the morning after Lucy greatly regrets sleeping with her husband again and she is even more horrified when she realises that she is pregnant. She wants to abort the child but Bruno refuses to let her, at the end of the series Lucy is moving back in with Bruno, as they are going to give their marriage a second chance for the sake of their unborn child. However, the child probably isn't Bruno's as Lucy asks a doctor whether the ultrasound will determine the colour of her child. This shows that Lucy is having an affair with Tremaine Gidigbi. The paternity won't be resolved as the show was unfortunately cancelled.
