Islamic Call Society

World Islamic Call Society (Abbreviated: W.I.C.S) (Arabic: جمعية الدعوة الإسلامية العالمية) is a Libyan governmental missionary organization founded in 1972. Its primary responsibilities include preparing preachers and missionaries for international preaching ("da 'wa"), with most students coming from Asia and Africa. The total number of members is unknown, but the organization consists of an administrative council of at least five members which plans and oversees activities, a general secretary who serves as the official external representative, and the general assembly, which meets annually and evaluates the work of the administrative council. Its main financial source are state subsidies Egdunas Racius [http://ethesis.helsinki.fi/julkaisut/hum/aasia/vk/racius/themulti.pdf THE MULTIPLE NATURE OF THE ISLAMIC DA‘WA 23rdof October, 2004] retrieved 2007-01-28] , and it is exempt from all taxes and duties.

The organization has branch organizations spread across the globe, with "several hundred missionaries abroad". Muammar al-Gaddafi uses Dawah as an important part of his foreign policy and World Islamic Call Society to promote his political ideas.
