- Says You!
"Says You!" is a weekly entertainment program distributed by Pipit & Finch in the
United States . It is not anNPR program, although many NPR stations carry it. It was created by hostRichard Sher (producer) , and is produced in Boston,Massachusetts , by Pipit & Finch."Says You!" features a regular group of
panelist s divided into two teams. The team makeup varies from week to week.Rounds 1, 3, and 5 vary from week to week. Rounds consist of
word game s,brain teaser s,trivia andparlor game s. Typical games include "What's the Difference?", "Odd Man Out", "What Came First?", "Melded Movies", and variations ofanagram s,homonym s and other language games.Rounds 2 and 4 are the same game each week, known as the "Says You!" bluffing round. It's a variation on the popular word game
fictionary . The three members of one team are given an obscure word; one of them gets the actual definition, and the other two must bluff with fake definitions composed within a minute or so. The other team attempts to select the correct definition. Points are awarded for guessing or bluffing successfully. With the expansion to one hour, a new round was added in October 2006 called the Spotlight Round. This round is a highlights portion of the show featuring funny or amazing highlights from the first ten years of the show. These highlights are taken from listener requests. Listeners may submit questions for the show through its [http://www.saysyou.net website] .
The program is recorded before live audiences at locations throughout the United States.
Both in its panel-game format and its literary bent, the show's debt to the BBC's now defunct "
My Word! " is evident.Subscriptions to and individual episodes of the show are available for a fee through [http://www.saysyou.net/zencart the show's website] or through
Audible.com .The broadcast [http://www.saysyou.org/secondary/stationslist.html schedule by state] and [http://www.publicradiofan.com/cgibin/program.pl?programid=480 by day is available] .
