Patricia Neway (born September 30, 1919, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American operatic soprano and Broadway performer. She made her debut at Chautauqua in 1946, as Fiordiligi in "Così fan tutte", and originated the role of the Mother Abbess in the original Broadway production of "The Sound of Music" (1959), and starred as Magda Sorel in Gian Carlo Menotti's Cold War-era opera "The Consul" (with Cornell MacNeil, 1950), which she recorded for Decca Records.

From 1951 to 1966, she appeared with the New York City Opera, in Tamkin's "The Dybbuk", Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana" (conducted by Julius Rudel), Alban Berg's "Wozzeck", Menotti's "The Consul", "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and "Maria Golovin", Bucci's "Tale for a Deaf Ear", Carlisle Floyd's "Wuthering Heights" (opposite Phyllis Curtin); Weisgall's "Six Characters in Search of an Author" (with Beverly Sills), Benjamin Britten's "The Turn of the Screw" (with Richard Cassilly as Peter Quint), and Richard Strauss's "Salome" (as Herodias).

In 1967, she appeared as Nettie in a special television production of "Carousel" starring Robert Goulet as Billy Bigelow. Her featured solo was the song "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Neway's other repertoire included Samuel Barber's "A Hand of Bridge" (which she recorded in 1960), Floyd's "The Sojourner and Mollie Sinclair" (opposite Norman Treigle, available on compact disc from VAI), Christoph Gluck's "Iphigénie en Tauride" (which she both sang in Paris and recorded), Francis Poulenc's "Dialogues des Carmélites" (as Madame de Croissy), Puccini's "Tosca", and Arnold Schönberg's "Erwartung".
