Charles Hamilton, Lord Binning (1697 – 27 December 1732)[1] was a Scottish politician.
The son of Thomas Hamilton, 6th Earl of Haddington and Helen Hope, he used his father's subsidiary title of Lord Binning as a courtesy title.
From 1718 until his death he held office as Knight Marischal.[citation needed]
About 1719, he married Rachel Baillie, the daughter of George Baillie of Jerviswoode and Mellerstain.[citation needed] Their elder son Thomas became the 7th Earl of Haddington.[citation needed] The estates of Jerviswoode and Mellerstain passed to their second son George who changed his name to Baillie-Hamilton, and was the ancestor of the 10th and later Earls of Haddington.[citation needed]
He was elected at the 1722 general election as a Member of Parliament (MP) for borough of St Germans in Cornwall,[2] and held the seat until the 1727 general election.[2]
