Stillington, County Durham

Stillington is a village within the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. It is situated to the north west of Stockton-on-Tees.

Nature Reserve

Near the church in Stillington, there is a renovated piece of land, that used to be a waste dump. It has been turned into a nature reserve, which has two main ponds, one of which contains species of freshwater fish (roach, rudd, mirror carp, tench, perch, common carp, crucian carp), and is a popular angling spot. There is a wooded area towards the top of the hill, which has a pathway leading through it, and is a wildlife hotspot. The landscape is mainly grassland, with patches of woodland.

There are currently plans underway to build either one or two wind turbines, to generate renewable wind power.

Public Transport

The number 7 runs every 60 minutes, at 46 minutes past the hour, and goes to Yarm, Willey Flats, via Stockton-On-Tees, apart from on Sundays when it doesn't run. The 97 goes to Darlington. There are buses to Stockton on Sundays, the 585 and the 584.

Schools

There is a primary school called William Cassidi Church Of England Primary, which has around 100-150 pupils, aged 4-11. It is a secure school, with fencing all the way around it.
