- Suzanne Morrow
Suzanne Morrow Francis (sometimes shown as Suzanna Morrow-Francis, born
December 14 ,1930 inToronto ; diedJune 11 ,2006 ) was a Canadianfigure skater . She competed in pairs withWallace Diestelmeyer . The couple won the bronze medal at the1948 Winter Olympics and the1948 World Figure Skating Championships . They are credited as being the first pair to perform the death spiral.Morrow also competed as a singles skater in the 1948 and
1952 Winter Olympics .After retiring from competition, Morrow served as a figure skating judge for over fifty years. At the
1988 Winter Olympics inCalgary , she took the Judge's Oath, the first woman to do so at theWinter Olympics .Morrow earned her degree in
veterinary medicine in 1952 and worked as aveternarian until her 1995 retirement. During that time, she also served as an All Breed dog show judge as part of theCanadian Kennel Club References
