WRNO was a commercial
shortwave radio station which beganinternational broadcasting on18 February ,1982 [http://members.aol.com/Radio15420/JMC.html] and continued broadcasting through the early 1990s fromMetairie, Louisiana . These call letters are still in use by theNew Orleans stationWRNO-FM .During the 1980s, WRNO shortwave had a
rock music format. Originally this was a separate broadcast from the FM station, but eventually WRNO turned tosimulcast ing WRNO-FM which also had a rock music format. During the early 1990s WRNO turned to leasing airtime to religious and political commentators until a damaged transmitter forced the station off the air.The station was off the air for many years until the antenna was destroyed by
Hurricane Katrina . The station was bought in 2001 by a religious broadcaster [http://www.angelfire.com/ok/worldofradio/dxld1048.txt] but is not currently broadcasting according to their website [http://www.wrnoworldwide.org/programs.htm] . It is now under the control of its new owner, Good News World Outreach, andRobert Mawire . In August 2008, several DXers noted WRNO testing with Christian music on 7505 kHz. The station is currently on 7505 Khz from 0100-0400 UTC. Will be extending their broadcast schedule as time goes by.External links
