The East of England Regiment was the Infantry Unit of the
Territorial Army of the EastMidlands and EastAnglia prior to the1 April 2006. The name is sometimes abbreviated to EER.The East of England Regiment had very strong links with both the
Royal Anglian Regiment and theWorcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment .History
This regiment was formed on
1 July 1999 from elements of theRoyal Anglian Regiment and theWorcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment.Soldiers from the EER served in the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan and the Iraq War
The EER was renamed the
3rd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment on the 1st of April 2006 as part of a larger reorganisation ofBritish Army regimentsThe new Battalion is expected to play a large role in major overseas operations between 2007 and 2009.
