Dubiously labeled a "Tech metal", or "Math Rock" band, Five Star Prison Cell offer a different and non-conformist approach to songwriting.
Brutally heavy, Dark and foreboding with the ability to switch time, pace, genre and style at the drop of a hat; Adam, Cam, Mark and Marc take great pleasure in constantly challenging themselves while at the same time serving up a dish of fresh new and always evolving ideas to their unsuspecting but ever growing fan base.
Early 2005 saw the release of their debut album “The Complete First Season” through Faultline records/Shock Australia, with a great response and raving reviews on and off stage, FSPC managed to secure their first international support later that year with Arch Enemy. By late 2006 Five Star Prison Cell had shared the stage with such bands as Bloodduster, Spiderbait, Psycroptic, Daysend, Terrorust, Fuck... I'm Dead, Alarum, Minus Life, Karnivool, Mortal Sin, Alchemist plus many more. Although spending most of 2006 recording and preparing for their second album Five Star managed to take away the 2006 Music Oz award for best Metal/Hardcore band as well as secure a spot on Queensland’s Overcranked festival as well as an east coast tour with Danzig (2nd International support) and Blood Duster.
2007 has seen the release of their second album Slaves of Virgo out now in Australia and New Zealand. Receiving great press, reviews and media coverage. Their busiest year to date, Five Star Prison Cell embarked on a nation tour to support the release of the album hitting every major city at least 3 times in the space of 4 months. FSPC also played 2007’s Against The Grain Festival, Sonic Forge Festival, Festival Of the Dead and Slayfest.
