subdivision = See text.Resedaceae is a family of generally
herbaceous dicotyledon ous plants comprising some 70 species in six genera:
*"Caylusea "
*"Ochradenus "
*"Oligomeris "
*"Randonia "
*"Reseda"
*"Sesamoides "Recent molecular studies suggest that "Oligomeris", "Randonia" and "Ochradenus" all arose from within the ranks of "Reseda". This would imply that only three genera should be recognised, although as yet no nomenclatural changes have been made. [cite journal | title = Molecular systematics and biogeography of Resedaceae based on ITS and trnL-F sequences | author = Santiago Martín-Bravo, Harald Meimberg, Modesto Luceño, Wolfgang Märkl, Virginia Valcárcel, Christian Bräuchler, Pablo Vargas and Günther Heubl | journal = Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution | volume = 44 | issue = 3 | year = 2007 | pages = 1105-1120]The family includes annuals, biennials and perennials and is distributed in
temperate tosub-tropical regions of theEurope , westernAsia , theMiddle East ,North America , andSouth Africa .Resedaceae was placed under the
Cronquist system in the orderCapparales . The APG II system places it in the orderBrassicales .References
